Over the weekend, I went with my family to do a little shopping. As I was standing in a check out line at Sam’s, I heard someone call my name. “I see you Miss B!” From 50 feet away, this little blonde child ran up to me and gave me a great big hug! Then she ran back to her family smiling and joyfully explaining that I was her music teacher.
The amazing thing to me is that I see this child every week. She is never this excited during music time, but here she seemed so surprised, even overjoyed. Seeing her teacher at the store just made her day!
One of my fellow teachers eloquently explained…”We are a constant to our students and they can rely on us to care about them, help them and protect them.” I am always delighted to see my students away from school. When they respond to me so positively in a different setting, I know that I am making a lasting impression; my hard work is validated. Yes, another GodSTOP.
Micah 6:8 basically says it all…”What does the Lord require of you? Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with your God.” If we follow this way of living in every aspect of our lives, then when “I see you” moments come…in the classroom, on the stage, at the movies or in the mall…people will always see a reflection of Christ. They may not recognize it as Christ, but they will see a difference and you will leave a lasting mark upon their lives.
